Tarjei, a Norwegian powerhouse born in the humble town of Otta.
Tarjei's early career was predominantly dedicated to timetrialing, however on his visits to Norway, he would often spend hours in the mountains, especially enjoying the scenic route through the mountain pass closest to Otto, namely Sognefjellet.
Tarjei's big break came when he was recruited to the English team of Team Kernow. Here Tarjei learned the secret of time trialing his way up a mountain, a British speciality.
Tarjei soon managed a podium in Volta ao Porto for his English team, however just like most English riders, his climbing ability vanished as soon as he left Team Kernow, a testament to the effectiveness of the training regime used by the English teams.
